How to Remove Vinyl Stickers From Various Surfaces Including Tinted Windows

Question: How do I remove a wrinkle from a car window decal?
Answer: The answer will depend on when you installed it. If it's been under 4 hours, a little heat from a hair dryer and carefully peeling the sticker back until the wrinkle has been lifted, then a little heat to soften the decal, and it should lay down relatively flat, with maybe a hint that it was wrinkled at one time, but not so you'd notice.
On the other hand, if the sticker was applied yesterday, the adhesive will have "purchased" whatever it is stuck to fairly permanently, unless it's a removable sticker material, in which case, the previous paragraph is relevant only in using the heat to remove (most of) the wrinkle. However, if it's a "normal" vinyl sticker, your best bet is to use a heat gun on high heat to soften the vinyl to the point it's malleable, and using a thumb or finger, try to gently pull the material and glue away from the wrinkle.
This works sometimes, but not always. Even as a vinyl installation professional, I've had times where I simply pulled the material off and got a new piece of vinyl and started over again. However, if you don't have this option, the only two you have is above, so it's best if you have a lot of decals to install, as on a race car, that you work on one sticker at a time.
Caveat #1: if you're installing reflective vinyl, all bets are off. This material is full of glass beads, so the vinyl doesn't hold together, and comes of in small pieces, and you WILL need to start over with a new decal. Sorry.
Caveat #2: If your sticker is applied to a material that doesn't take heat well, like a soft plastic, using a heat gun may produce a result you REALLY don't want! Melting the underlying material. This provides that sinking feeling and accompanying bad thoughts and maybe even some unsavory language when you ruin whatever it was you were trying to decorate or redecorate.
If you've gone past that point and you're looking for a "fix" to your dilemma, and if you're working on glass or a rigid plastic (and hopefully thicker plastic) like fiberglass, polycarbonate, or acrylic, mainly you'll need to be careful not to scratch the surface of the material you've applied your vinyl or polyester stickers to. The trick will be to be careful to not scratch the tinting when you go to remove the stickers later on as it is a mylar material (polyester), and is susceptible to surface abrasion. However, if you use moderate heat (like a heat gun on the lowest heat setting or a hair dryer at any setting, you should give yourself a good chance of removing the old sticker without affecting the window tinting. Recently, I decided to dodge the Tampa rain and head out for a much needed test drive. After some thought and persistent persuasion from the NEVO family, the test subject was agreed upon: the 2013 MINI Cooper Countryman.
Dabbling in the crossover market, the Countryman is MINI's largest vehicle to date. The increased overall dimensions make for a roomier interior and respectable backseat not found in other MINI Cooper models. Price as tested was right around 28k for the front-wheel-drive 4 door S Countryman.
From the exterior, the Countryman is classic MINI. A step inside and I quickly realized this MINI means business. Form and function take priority with the Countryman interior. The design is cleanly expressed through crisp lines, aviator style toggle switches, and subtle textures that scream British luxury. Even with its high-end feel, MINI shows a sense of humor with the retro, conspicuously placed and largely oversized speedometer. From the moment I took the driver's seat, whatever apprehension I may have had about the MINI Countryman, vanished.
Inserting the circular key fob into the ignition readied this MINI for drive time. With a quick touch of the ignition button, the MINI came to life with a powerful, yet understated rumble. Driving the MINI Countryman was fun to say the least. Then I was introduced to "Sport Mode". A quick flip of a toggle switch changed the already entertaining Countryman into an impressive driving machine. With stiffer steering, tighter suspension, sportier shift points, and a throatier exhaust tone, it was time to find a backroad.
Off the main road, I took the now sportier MINI Countryman through its paces. Grasping the properly proportioned steering wheel and giving the accelerator a gentle push had the 181 horsepower Peugeot engine screaming. The Countryman reaches speeds quickly without issue. Around corners, the stiffer suspension shows its use keeping the MINI tight to the late apex. My only gripe with the Countryman's handling comes with the factory brake setup. The brakes felt a bit slow to respond when shifting vehicle weight during the test drive. While I doubt this would cause issue during daily driving, it may be cumbersome for those weekend ventures or high stress crash avoidance situations.

10 Easy Checks You Can Carry Out to Help Your Car Get Through It's MOT

Most cars fail its MOT due to minor faults. This article is a brief guide for any vehicle owner to carry out 10 easy and simple checks to help your car on its way to its next MOT pass. While we can't guarantee a pass, you can eliminate many of the little things that'll hold you up.
1. Tyres
Check that each tyre has at least 1.6mm of tread (the legal limit) all round and across the width. Also check for any cuts or bulges in the side walls or any disfigurements of the tyres.
2. Lights
Check that all lights are working and secure. This includes indicators, fog lamp, number plate lights, all sidelights, main head lamps including main beam, hazards and brake lights. You may need assistance in checking the brake lights. Also check that instrument panel lights and tell-tail lights for hazards, rear fog light and main beam are working.
3. Number plate
Number plates should be securely fixed to the car and not be cracked or broken. They should also be the right colours (black on white at the front, black on yellow on the rear for modern cars) and the letters and digits be correctly spaced apart. Personalised registration plates where the letters or digits have been moved closer to spell out names are rarely MOT test legal
4. Mirrors
Make sure that both wing mirrors are present and securely mounted without any cracks or damage and provide a clear view of the road behind.
5. Fuel Cap
Make sure that your vehicle has its fuel cap present when taken for its MOT test. Your car will fail without the correct fuel cap fitted.
6. Seat Belts
Ensure that each seat belt buckles and unbuckles easily and securely and that they retract and extend fully, locking when pulled smartly. See that each is properly secured to the car's body. Examine the belt fabric for rips or fraying.
7. Windscreen
Check the surface for chips or cracks. Any bigger than 10mm and in the driver's line of sight can be a fail. Also make sure there are no other items obscuring the drivers view of the road.
8. Windscreen Washers
Check that the washers aim correctly at the screen. Look at the washer reservoir bottle (usually found under the bonnet) to ensure that it has some wash in it and doesn't leak.
9. Windscreen Wipers
Examine the front and rear blades. If they are split or perished - or too worn to clear the glass properly, replace them.
10. Horn
Make sure that the horn is present and secure and that it is loud enough to be heard by another road user.

Although the term coupe is typically associated with cars, it originally found its way into the English lexicon as a word to describe carriages that featured no rear-facing seats. These seats had effectively been cut out, or decouper as the French would say, hence the term coupe. For car purists this particular car body style is the source of considerable debate; there's no strict criteria, other than the need for two-doors, a closed body and a fixed roof.
Due to the lack of fixed criteria, many car manufacturers over the years have used creative licenses to develop a number of variations on the standard coupe model. Some have taken off, remaining a constant presence in car showrooms across the world, others have mutated, and in some cases been rechristened to shed any ties to their original model, whilst others have faded from existence.
There's a good chance you won't have heard or know much about any of these models - some of them are pretty obscure. Therefore, the simple guide we've produced below will probably provide your knowledge with a bit of a boost:
Business: A pretty straightforward style to start with. Business coupe models were designed specifically with travelling salespeople in mind. They would always traditionally travel with all the stock they were responsible for selling for company - none of these order now, receive later systems we have today. So, they'd always require a significant amount of extra space. In order to cater to their needs, car manufacturers designed a coupe featuring no rear seat at all - not even one that could be removed - thus leaving them with plenty of dedicated space in which to conveniently store their goods.
Opera: Despite your initial assumptions, the opera coupe didn't come equipped with a singer wailing their way through an Italian baroque opera - as great as that would have been. Instead opera models boasted a higher roof in their passenger compartments. This taller compartment served the purpose of allowing gentlemen to continue to wear their hats to the opera. There wasn't any car model that reflected the original horse-drawn coupe carriages quite as much as this one.
Club: A club coupe is something that's not mentioned hugely in the modern era. Some enthusiasts might talk about them in such a way; however, most know them as two-door sedans. Stylistically they don't differ too drastically when compared to a standard coupe - the only real difference being that they feature a larger rear seat.
Sports: Everyone loves sports cars - there's something incredibly exotic about them, and they're usually impeccably designed. Sports model typically feature a roof that slopes gradually downwards in the style of a fastback. The way in which they're designed makes sport coupe models an incredibly aerodynamic option.
